Volvo V90 Cross Country — Model Year 2023

The Volvo V90 Cross Country is Volvo’s 5-door, 5-seat large premium all-road estate. It is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo’s advanced modular product platform that underpins all Volvo cars in the 90 and 60 Series.

Since the introduction of the first Cross Country over 20 years ago, Volvo Cars has become synonymous with the rugged all-road, all-weather segment. The V90 Cross Country takes the elegance of the V90 and transforms it into an all-road estate that delivers safety, practicality, comfort and performance in a capable and adventurous package.

Exterior design cues underscore the car’s Cross Country nature, while large wheels, an increased ride height of 60mm and a chassis optimised for comfort and control in all weather and road conditions, further add to the car’s special position within the Volvo portfolio.

With all-wheel drive, Off Road mode, high ground clearance, Hill Descent Control and rear air suspension, the V90 Cross Country can help optimise traction, grip and safety.

The interior of the V90 Cross Country radiates Scandinavian design at its very best, with clean lines, exquisite detailing and genuine materials. The options include luxurious leather-free interiors and a handcrafted gear shifter in genuine Swedish crystal made exclusively for Volvo Cars by Orrefors.

The advanced air purifier system prevents up to 95 per cent of hazardous PM 2.5 particles from entering the cabin. No matter the conditions outside, the solution can help occupants enjoy better and healthier air quality, while having the possibility to monitor particle and pollen levels outside the car.

Connectivity and infotainment

The Volvo V90 Cross Country comes equipped with an infotainment system jointly developed with Google featuring built-in Google apps and services. Intuitive and convenient, this next generation infotainment system offers customers unprecedented personalisation and an unparalleled connectivity, which is further enhanced through the Digital Services package.

The centrepiece of the Digital Services package is the access to Google apps and services*, which offer hands-free help with Google Assistant, best-in-class navigation through Google Maps and a broad offer of native in-car apps via Google Play.

The V90 Cross Country is capable of receiving larger software and operating system updates over the air. This enables the car to keep evolving and improving over time, rather than being at its peak when it leaves the factory.

Powertrain technology

The V90 Cross Country, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, is available with a range of mild hybrid variants. Power output varies from 197 to 300hp. All-wheel drive is standard on all Cross Country models.

The mild hybrids offer smooth take-offs and up to 15 per cent fuel savings and emission reductions in real-world driving.

More details around the powertrain offer can be found in the technical specifications.

Safety and driver assistance

The V90 Cross Country is equipped with Volvo Cars’ latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor platform – a modern, scalable active safety system that consists of an array of radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors.

This platform enables the development and deployment of active safety systems, such as the detection of other road users, automatic braking and collision avoidance. Through the Pilot Assist function, it also allows for gentle driver support from standstill up to highway speeds.

Volvo V90 Cross Country — model year 2019

The V90 Cross Country is Volvo’s 5-door, 5-seat large premium all-road estate.

Like its siblings in the 90 Series, the V90 Cross Country carries the proud and confident face of Volvo’s design language, along with classic Volvo styling cues. Key features include the iconic “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlight design, the new grille and Volvo Iron Mark, and the expressive use of the Volvo word mark on the rear.

Exterior design cues underline the car’s Cross Country nature, while an increased ride height of 60 mm and a chassis optimised for comfort and control in all weather and road conditions further add to the car’s special position within the Volvo portfolio.

In the cabin, Volvo has taken cues from the clean, Scandinavian interior design of its XC90 model and raised the bar with new details on the dashboard and instrument panel, including new air blades that stand vertically on each side of the Sensus user interface.

Connectivity and infotainment
All new Volvos are now connected, thanks to Volvo’s connectivity and infotainment system called Sensus. It delivers an intuitive touch screen interface that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and in-car entertainment applications such as Spotify, Pandora, Baidu or TuneIn. The portrait-oriented touch screen enables easy and fast access to a host of functions and features. Smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available.

See the Sensus factsheet for more details.

Powertrain technology
The V90 Cross Country is powered by Volvo’s Drive-E petrol and diesel powertrains, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. Power output varies from 190 to 310 hp. All-wheel drive is standard on all Cross Country models.

More details around the powertrain offer can be found in the Technical Specifications .

Safety and driver assistance
Volvo’s leadership in the field of automotive safety is confirmed in the V90 Cross Country. The SPA platform has resulted in the strongest Volvo cars to date because of extensive use of boron steel, as well as numerous safety systems designed to protect people inside and outside the car.

Volvo’s City Safety technology, standard on all Volvo models, combines automatic braking functionality and collision avoidance systems to cover a range of potential accident scenarios and help keep you safe. City Safety is the only system on the market that detects pedestrians, cyclists and large animals such as moose and deer.

The Pilot Assist driver assistance system works up to 130 km/h on clearly marked roads and is another step towards Volvo’s Vision 2020, which states that no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo by 2020.

See the Intellisafe factsheet for more information.
